Another round-up of the TV shows I'm loving at the moment!

House of Cards

On paper, this is not my type of show, it's a smart, slick political thriller but I'm a sucker for a hype and everyone was talking about it. Now I see why. The show follows Washington congressman Frank Underwood and his wife Claire and their rise to power. Honestly if this doesn't sound like your show, I still recommend it, it's so compelling to watch, the twists and turns, the cold and calculated way in which Frank and Claire get what they want and Kevin Spacey's Southern drawl. It's superbly acted, well written and so thrilling.

The great British bake off

This show is my obsession. 

It doesn't sound like much on paper, a competition for amateur bakers in which you watch other people trying their delicious bakes and you just stare enviously. This show just gives me warm fuzzy feelings, the contestants are such a wonderful array of characters (shout out to Ugne the Ukrainian body builder) and they're all so talented. Mary Berry is also my icon and I wish she was my grandmother/personal baker/wardrobe stylist (she rocks a floral jacket like no one else) and I'm not ashamed to say I love Mel and Sue's puns. If you want feel good TV and you're a fan of baking,watch this. The final is on Wednesday, it will be one not to miss.

Side note, watching will cause extreme hunger, I recommend to watch with copious amounts of snacks.

Parks and Recreation

If you love the US office, this show is a sure fire hit, it's a similar mockumentary style, following the town of Pawnee's local government parks and recreation department. It's silly, funny and I want Leslie Knope to be my best friend (we both have a serious sugar addiction) 

Strictly Come Dancing

It's back! It's not Autumn until Strictly starts. A cometitin where a load of celebrities pair u with professional dancers and learn ballroom. Another feel good show, Strictly Come Dancing is brimming with sparkles and glitter and a host of great characters learning to dance. I have a feeling this year is going to be a good one, I would totally be lying if I said that I didn't sort of love Jeremy Vine''s dad dancing routine last week... Any prediction's for tonight's eviction?!

 

 

As today marks the first official day of Autumn, I'm in two minds about the new season; part of me is dreading waking up for work when it's dark outside and being unable to walk around the house bare foot for fear of frost bite, but of course there are some amazing things about the upcoming season that may just make waking up in the pitch dark slightly easier.

1. Berry lipstick 

It's amazing what a slick of Berry lips can do, make you feel confident and sassy and so put together. My two picks for the season are Mac lip liner in Ms Diva and Rimmel Kate Moss Matte lipstick in 107.

2. Duvet days. The cold dark weather makes it totally acceptable to spend all day rolled up in your duvet like a pig in blanket watching Netflix. Nobody will be telling you to 'go outside and enjoy the lovely weather'.

3. Bonfire night. I love fireworks, they're so magical and just make you go ooooooh aaaah. Oh the smell of bonfires is one of my absolute favourites. So good.

4. Hot chocolate with ten thousand mini marshmallows on top and hearty meat pies and just all the comfort food ever. I need the extra calories for insulation ok?!

5. Strictly Come Dancing. Yes I am only 21 but yes this is the best show ever and how I'm planning on spending all my Saturday nights from now until Christmas. I'm obsessed with all the sequins and sparkle and that show must use about a thousand gallons of fake tan. And that's just on Claudia Winkleman. And I also want Claudz to be my bestie.

6. Autumn leaves. So crisp and that satisfying crunch walking through them is like nothing else.

7. Putting your razors and wax strips and fake tan in a dusty bag and not having to think about them for months. 

8. A new season means new clothes. I'm in love with my new tartan scarf from Miss Selfridge. Autumn also means chunky knitwear and lots layering. You mean it's possible to be comfortable and look stylish?!

9. Halloween. I'll basically take any excuse to dress up, it's the drama queen in me.

10. The countdown to Christmas begins. Too soon? I'm not even sorry.

I've rounded up my top 3 concealers for covering up dark circles and unsightly blemishes. I seriously cannot be without them.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer 

The budget option, this concealer is seriously hyped within the blogging community and with good reason. It's a very full coverage concealer that I think is best for blemishes, as it could look a little thick under the eyes. It's a nice creamy formula and the lightest shade is actually very pale which is the main thing I struggle with for high street concealers.

Charlotte Tilbury the Retoucher Concealer 

Packaging wise, this one wins hands down. Just look at that rose gold! Although this looks like your standard highlighting concealer, don't confuse it with a touché éclat. This concealer offers great coverage and the formula is so light and brightening it's perfect for under the eyes, it covers dark circles without looking thick and cakey.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer 

My most recent concealer love, this is quite similar to the Collection concealer but it's even more creamy (hence the name) and covers anything. This is a seriously full coverage concealer. The shade range is also incredible for a variety of skin tones and the lightest shade, Chantilly, is the palest concealer I think I've ever seen!

Yeah ok so it's only just September but it's felt like autumn since mid August so I think this post is totally appropriate. In fact, I'm surprised I managed to wait this long.

I love all the seasons, I don't have a favourite, but I'm definitely a big fan of autumn for fashion and beauty (and the return of strictly come dancing). I love dark lips, defined eyes, stylish coats and cute boots. Oh and not having to shave my legs (real talk ladies). So today I'm rounding up some of the fashion and beauty items on my autumn wish list.

CharlotteTilbury Dolce Vita Quad

My obsession with Charlotte Tilbury grows more and more each day but I've actually not tried any powder eyeshadows from her yet. This quad is so beautiful, the colours are so rich and warm and I don't own anything like that beautiful burgundy shade.

Jo Malone Woodage and Sea Salt Cologne

I'm normally one for sweet floral scents but when the seasons change its nice to mix it up with something darker and more musky. This is such a unique scent and the lasting power of Jo Malone fragrances is amazing, I think they're a real investment. 

Asos Chelsea boots

Every year, these are a staple for me. Can you ever go wrong with a pair of classic black Chelsea boots? The answer is no. They go with everything. Fact. 

What's on your autumn wishlist?

Lush Big shampoo

I have very fine hair that needs washing often and I find some shampoos to be too rich, weighing down my hair. This sea salt shampoo is amazing for hair like mine, it's light weight and gives hair volume and texture, without drying it out. I also love the smell, it's so refreshing and reminds me of the sea and summer holidays. Yes, lush shampoo is pricey, but this tub lasted me a long time. The consistency is very odd, it's like thick gloop, but a tiny amount gives an amazing lather so I think it's worth the money. If you have very dry hair, this shampoo might not be for you but if you have fine hair that craves volume and texture, this is a winner.

Would I repurchase? Yes I already have! 

Vera Wang Lovestruck Eau de Toilette

This fragrance is sweet, light and floral. With notes of pink guava and mandarin and a base of precious woods, sheer musk and vanilla, it's right up my street. I would probably describe this as a summer fragrance as it's quite light, but I tend to wear scents like this all year round. I adore this scent and the bottle is so stunning but I will say that it doesn't linger long on the skin and you need to keep spritzing throughout the day.

 Would I repurchase? Yes, gorgeous fragrance that. I would definitely wear again, although perhaps I'll try the eau de parfum..

Benefit They're Real! Mascara

I've repurchased this mascara a few times before, because I think it gives my lashes great length and volume, however for 19.50, it's disappointing just how quickly it dries out, turning my lashes clumpy. I also find quite difficult to remove. It's a great mascara for length and volume but it dries out so fast I'm not sure it's worth the money and I could find a mascara that achieves a similar effect with a much smaller price tag.

Would I repurchase? No, I think I'm going to hunt for a cheaper alternative.

The Bodyshop Camomile Cleansing Butter 

My first foray into cleansing balms so I thought I'd start off with something affordable. If you're unfamiliar with cleansing balms, you warm them up in your hands, apply all over your face, then wipe away with a muslin cloth and some warm water. I found that this broke down and removed my make up really well, keeping my skin soft and clean. It feels very luxurious on the skin and costs much less than other balms on the market.

Would I repurchase? I'm currently testing out another cleansing balm but I will definitely repurchase this one.

La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution

I love micellar waters, they're so easy and quick at taking off make up. This particular one was nice, it took off my make up, although not the most stubborn mascaras, and didn't leave my skin dry or irritated. However. It'd not the cheapest micellar water on the market, although it's a lot more accessible than Bioderma and achieves the same results.

Would I repurchase? Definitely, although I'm planning on testing out some more micellar waters for comparison as at 11 pounds, it's not the cheapest.
